Panasonic – DECT System

Overview

UCX supports Panasonic IP DECT base station KX-NS0154 and DECT portable handset models KX-TCA185, KX-TCA285 and KX-TCA385.

Prerequisites

The NS0154 base station and portable DECT handsets must be updated to the latest software version.

  • DECT Base station : KX-NS0154 SW V: 002.04x
  • Portable DECT Handsets : KX-TCA185/285/385 SW V: 04.01.xxx

The UCX must be updated to the latest software version.

  • ucxgui-dect-7.0.0-3 or higher

Base Station Configuration

Setup Base Station IP address

  • Enable DHCP server to assign IP address to the Base station(s) (from router or from UCX)
    OR
  • Configure Static IP address by connecting to the Base station(s) from a PC using the Panasonic IP Terminal Maintenance Console.

Configure PBX IP Address

  • Determine the IP address of the Base Station.
  • Login to the Base Station from a PC using the Panasonic IP Terminal Maintenance Console:
  • Navigate to Network Settings and enter IP address of the UCX in the field PBX IP Address (Primary).
  • Repeat the above steps for all the Base Stations.

UCX Configuration

Base Stations

  • Navigate to PBX -> DECT page.
  • From the Base Station page, click on Add Base Station.
  • Provide a useful Description.
  • Enter the MAC Address of the Base Station (NS0154).
  • Click on Save button.
  • Repeat the above steps to add all the KX-NS054 base stations.
  • When the base station is registered, the LED on the base station will be lit solid blue.
The Base Station page will list all the base stations and their statuses.

LAN Synchronization

Expand the left navigation panel, navigate to LAN Synchronization page.
Edit the default Group 1 and configure Master, Backup Master-1 and Backup Master-2, then click the Save button. The Master field is mandatory, the others are optional.
NOTE

After making changes on this page, the affected base stations need to be power cycled for the changes to take effect.

Handsets

Expand the left navigation panel, navigate to Handsets page. This page will show the list of registered handsets and their extensions.

DECT Portable Handset Registration

On the Handset

Step 1: If the handset has previously configured bases, delete them. From the handset menu, go to Setting Handset -> System Option -> Cancel Base

Step 2: If there is no base registered, the handset will display on the screen prompting the user to register the Handset. DO NOT press the OK button yet, complete steps 3 and 4 first.

On the UCX

Step 3: Navigate to PBX -> PBX Configuration -> Add XSTIM extension page.

Step 4: Proceed to Add XSTIM Device on the UCX.

Step 5: In the MAC Address field, it will be blank initially. On the Handset (see Step 2), press the OK button. The MAC Address field on the UCX will now show the correct MAC of the handset.

Step 6: Finish configuring the rest of the fields for the extension and click the Submit button.

To view the list of registered handsets, go to PBX -> DECT -> Handsets page.

Key Functions on the Handset

Limitations

  1. When deleting the Base Station from UCX, the base station is removed from the UCX GUI but the station remains registered to UCX.
  2. When deleting an extension from UCX that has an associated registered DECT handset, the handset retains the registration  settings.
  3. UCX currently only supports one LAN Synchronization group.
  4. Soft keys on DECT handsets are not fully supported yet. More soft keys will be implemented in the future.
  5. Function and flexible keys on the DECT handsets are not supported.
  6. After base stations have been configured, they need to be power cycled.
