A UCX MGC pre-programmed compact flash containing the correct loadware can be purchased from E-MetroTel in order to be supported.
You can purchase MGC(s) and MGXPEC(s) from E-MetroTel. E-Metrotel reserves the right to refuse support if you program it yourself. However, the process for installing the proper MGC loadware is described in MGC Loadware Creation.
Configuring existing MGXPEC with ELAN connectivity
If this is an existing MGXPEC card with network connectivity, perform the following steps:
- Login to MGXPEC.
- Enter the command mgcsetup
- Step through the prompts until you get to Primary CS IP
- Enter the UCX server IP address (e.g. 192.168.1.200) at this prompt.Note: the UCX Server can be located remotely from the MGC. In the case of a remote UCX Server, enter the External IP address of the UCX.
- Proceed through the rest of the prompts without any changes
- Reboot the MGXPEC card
ldb> mgcsetup
ELAN IP : 192.168.1.210
ELAN subnet mask : 255.255.255.0
ELAN gateway IP : 192.168.1.1
Primary CS IP : 192.168.1.100 ? 192.168.1.200
The MGXPEC has a mother board and daughter board so this procedure would need to be done on both.
Configuring a New MGXPEC card
If this is a new MGC card with no network connectivity, perform the following steps:
- Connect to MGC card via the serial port.
- Enter the command mgcsetup to configure the MGC ELAN parameters
- Configure the UCX server IP address at Primary CS IP prompt (e.g. 192.168.1.200).Note: the UCX Server can be located remotely from the MGC. In the case of a remote UCX Server, enter the External IP address of the UCX.
- Proceed through the rest of the prompts without any changes.
- Reboot the MGC card.
ldb> mgcsetup
ELAN IP : 192.168.1.210
ELAN subnet mask : 255.255.255.0
ELAN gateway IP : 192.168.1.1
Primary CS IP : 192.168.1.200
The MGXPEC has a mother board and daughter board so this procedure would need to be done on both.
MGXPEC Registration with UCx Server
After configuration of the MGXPEC is complete, the card will register with the UCX Server. The MGXPEC faceplate will display the configured superloop and shelf.
The LDB command mgcinfoshow will display the configured parameters, as seen in the example below:
