This page describes the basic steps required to register the XSTIM Enabled IP phone to the UCX server.
1.0 UCX Administration
1.1 Configure XSTIM Extension on the UCX Server
- Login to UCX Administration.
- Navigate to PBX – PBX Configuration – Extensions page.
- Add a XSTIM Device with the following basic parameters:
- User Extension (e.g. 555)
- Display Name
- MAC Address – Enter the MAC address of the physical phone. Alternative you can enter 0 if using Set Based Configuration feature.
- Click on Submit to create the XSTIM extension.
- Select the new extension from the list of extensions located on the top right corner.
- Click on Edit XSTIM Properties link.
- In the Device type field, select the desired phone model from the drop-down list.
- Select the Number of Lines from the drop-down list.
- Under Programmable Keys section, configure the desired keys.
- Press the Submit Changes button.
- Press the Apply Config bar at the top.
1.2 Optional – Set Based Configuration
The UCX Set Based Configuration feature provides the ability to associate physical XSTIM phones with UCX extensions using the phone interface. You can skip this step if the actual MAC address of the phone has already been assigned .
- Login to UCX Administration.
- Navigate to PBX – PBX Configuration – XSTIM Settings page.
- Configure Set Based Configuration field to Enabled.
- Enter the Set Based Configuration Password (or use the default 82950) .
- Press the Submit Changes button.
- Press the Apply Config bar at the top.
2.0 Access Phone Menu
2.1 No-touch Cloud Provisioning
E-MetroTel’s XSTIM No-Touch Cloud Provisioning Tool which is accessible from the Partner Portal allows customers to activate and pre-configure XSTIM Infinity phones. Plug-in the phones into the LAN with internet access and the phones will retrieve their respective configuration files from the public server.

If using cloud provisioning, there is no need to access the phone menu to provision the phone, you can Skip to Step 4 to complete the registration using Set Based Configuration. If not using Set Based Configuration, provisioning is now COMPLETE!
2.2 Manual Provisioning
First you need to access the Infinity Phone menu. There are 2 methods to access the menu.
Method 1 – Unconfigured phone
This method is applicable only when the server information on the phone is empty. This would typically apply to a brand new phone.
- When the phone has completed its bootup process and the server information is empty, you will see the following message on the screen.
- Press the Configure softkey.
- When prompted for the password, enter the admin password, followed by the Enter softkey.
Method 2: Previously configured phone
This method can be used anytime when the phone is in the idle state.
- Double press the Hold button for 5004/5008/5010W models.
Or double press the Conference button for 5006/5010 models. - Select Advanced, you will be prompted for the password.
- When prompted for the password, enter the admin password, followed by the Enter softkey.
There are 2 possible default admin passwords:
3.0 Configure Server Information
Once you have successfully entered the phone menu, you can now proceed with the following.
Under Advanced Setting, select the Server submenu. Configure the following:
- S1 IP = IP address of the UCX Server (default is 192.168.1.200)
- S1 Port = Port number for XSTIM phones (default is 7000)
Press the Save button and exit the phone menu. The phone will now connect to the configured UCX Server.
4.0 Register XSTIM Extension
This step is needed only if using Set Based Configuration.
Once the phone is connected to the UCX Server, the following screen is displayed. You can now configure the extension.
Perform the following steps:
- Press the Config softkey.
- Enter the Set Based Configuration password (default is 82950) and press the Enter softkey.
- Enter the Extension number to be assigned to this phone and press the Enter softkey.
- The phone is now registered to the XSTIM extension.
