Step 1 – Configure DHCP on ETH1
All default IP address configuration for all gateway cards is DHCP Assigned. To set enable the card in the Galaxy Pro expansion slot to acquire an address, you must set up DHCP Server on the UCX ETH1 subnet.
- Configure the DHCP settings for ETH1 using the procedures identified in DHCP Server documentation.
- Set the DHCP address range large enough to accommodate any additional gateway cards or devices you may have planned for connecting on ETH1.
Step 2 – Enable Connection Sharing
Refer to Connection Sharing section of the Network Parameters documentation page. Ensure that the Private Interface is set to ETH1 and the Public Interface is set to ETH0.
Step 3 – Install a Gateway Card
- Remove the expansion slot protective plate.
- Carefully slide the gateway card into place, ensuring correct alignment of the card in the slot guides, gently seat the card in place, and secure with the built-in screws.
Step 4 – Bind IP address to the Gateway Card
- Navigate to the System / Network / DHCP Client List page
- If there are no other devices connected to the ETH1 ethernet port, then there should be only a single entry in the list, and the assigned
- If there are multiple entries, make sure that you identify the card in the expansion slot by matching the MAC Address listed in the DHCP Client List with the MAC address found on the gateway card (or the box it was shipped in).
- Navigate to the System / Network / DHCP Bindings
- Follow the steps described in DHCP Bindings and add the card by inserting the Host Name, IP Address and MAC Address fields. (Note that you can create this binding prior to inserting the gateway card so it is automatically configured with a known IP Address.
Step 5 – Access the Gateway Card
There are two options to access the gateway card for web based administration.
- Set your computer’s ethernet interface for DHCP or to a static address corresponding to the subnet configured for the UCX ETH1 network. Then plug your computer’s ethernet port in to the ETH1 port of the Galaxy Pro (or to a port on an ethernet switch that is also connected to the Galaxy Pro ETH1 port).
- Set up a New Remote Host using the procedures in the Remote Access documentation using the IP address of the gateway card identified in the previous step, then press Connect. (Note – anytime the UCX is restarted you will need to reconnect Remote Host associated with the gateway card before you can access the card for configuration.)
At this point you can begin to configure the Gateway Card from a web browser. For steps on how to configure each type of gateway card, refer to the following links:
