XSTIM Settings

Before you start creating extensions for XSTIM phones, you should review the system wide options configured under XSTIM Settings.

To configure common options used for any XSTIM phone (E-MetroTel, Nortel, Avaya, Panasonic), perform the following steps:

  1. From the PBX tab, select PBX Configuration
  2. From the left side column, select XSTIM Settings
  3. Review the configured defaults
  4. If you made any changes in the settings, press the Submit Changes button to save the configuration

You should at least review and update the options described on this page as needed:

Soft Key Transfer Type

* (See note below)

Sets the default value for the type of transfer invoked using the Transfer softkey on XSTIM sets.

AttendedThis is the default setting for new systems. This mode enables the XSTIM based softkey user interface for collecting and editing dialed digits. The Transferor has the option of talking with the Transfer-to party prior to transferring the call and can complete or cancel the transfer using softkeys.

Asterisk Blind: In this mode, digit collection is performed using inband signaling and there are no options to cancel the transfer. The Transferor does not have the option of talking with the Transfer-to party prior to transferring the call.
.
Asterisk Attended: In this mode, digit collection is performed using inband signaling. Once the transfer-to number has been dialed, context-sensitive softkeys will be presented to the transferor for completing the transfer, canceling the transfer, or conferencing both parties into a three-way call.

Note: this setting will be used for ALL XSTIM extensions that have not explicitly been assigned a Softkey Transfer Type setting in the Extensions (XSTIM) configuration page. Take care when changing this setting on an existing system.

See feature description for more details: Call Transfer and Recall.

Attended Transfer Number

* (see tip below)

The caller ID number used for attended transfers.
First Line for Calls Without Name

Contents of the first display line of an XSTIM phone when the phone receives an incoming call from an endpoint with an unknown caller ID name. By default, the CallerID number is shown on both the first and second line.

This setting applies only to phones with 3 line displays (e.g. 1140E).

Hotdesking MessageWhen a phone is hotdesked to another extension, show a notification message on the phone’s display.
Feature Key ModeThe Feature Key Mode field is Enabled by default. When enabled, it makes XSTIM Phones operate like Nortel BCM phones, where features and key labels similar to BCM phones are used. See Feature Key Mode for details.
Note: When Feature Key Mode is enabled, XSTIM phone users will not be able to press their Line extension key twice as a shortcut for the Last Number Redial function.
Offhook Answers Ringing BLFWhen this option is enabled, an incoming call alerting on a ringing BLF key is answered when the user goes offhook. When this option is disabled, the user must press the ringing BLF key to answer the incoming call.
Ringing BLF Active+Ringing StateThis option controls the state reported on a ringing BLF key when the target phone is on an active call and another incoming call is alerting on the target phone. Any sets with a ringing BLF associated with a target extension that is already busy when another call arrives for that extension will not provide a ringing alert while the setting is configured as Active (which is the default).  When set to Ringing the sets with a Ringing BLF will provide audible ringing regardless of the original state of the target extension.

Dialing Options

You should enter dial plan patterns that match your dial plan in the Dialplan Patterns area. Dialed digits that match patterns defined here will allow XSTIM phones to complete the call without having to press the Send or # key. These patterns can also include the timeout option (T), that allows dialing to start after the configured dial timer expiry (default is 4 seconds).
Pattern Description
x Matches any digit 0 – 9
[1,2,3-5] Matches any digit listed including ranges
. Matches all digits
T Matches Dial Timer expiry
.
NOTE

As shown in the example above, if a user dials the digits 911, the UCX will immediately complete the call via the appropriately configured Outbound Route without waiting for an end of of dial timer or key press. E-MetroTel recommends that all emergency numbers, even included the dial sequence 9911 be configured as a Dialplan Pattern to minimize the time for an emergency call to be established when using XSTIM phones.

USEFUL TIP

You can override some of the default settings configured on this page with device specific settings configured on the XSTIM Properties page of each phone.

Survivability Options

See Configuring the Main Office Route Prefix on the SRG System for details.
