Analog Card – Updating the Firmware
USEFUL TIP

It is a simple process to perform firmware updates on Analog Gateway cards (FXS, FXO, or FXO/FXS) as a factory reset is no longer required.

NOTE

The upgrade will take approximately 10 to 15 minutes to complete, at which time dial tone will be re-applied to any connected analog handsets. Access to the Configuration GUI will also be interrupted and you will have to login again.

Manual Update

  1. Connect to the Analog Gateway Configuration GUI.
  2. Navigate to the Maintenance / Firmware Upgrade page.

Method #1: Using Local File

  1. In the Keep System Configuration selection, keep the default value of Yes if you have existing configuration data that you wish to keep. Select No if you wish to delete the existing configuration and re-program the system.
  2. In the Choose File selection, click on the Choose File button, and select the new firmware file you wish to upload.
  3. Once the system verifies the file type, the Upgrade button in the top right corner will turn green and become active.
  4. Click the Upgrade from File button to start the upload and installation process.

Method #2: Using Upgrade Server

  1. Connect to the Analog Gateway Configuration GUI.
  2. Navigate to the Maintenance / Firmware Upgrade page.
  3. In the Keep System Configuration selection, keep the default value of Yes if you have existing configuration data that you wish to keep. Select No if you wish to delete the existing configuration and re-program the system.
  4. In the Upgrade Server field, enter the complete URL address of the new firmware file.
    For example: http://repo.uc-x.org/infinity.fw/emetrotel_iac-v1102.img
  5. Click the Upgrade from Server button to start the upload and installation process.

Keep the default E-MetroTel public server address or enter your own server address.

This field will appear only if scope is “All” or “Firmware”.

Run Provision

Even when Auto Provision is set to Disabled, you can still force the system to perform an update by clicking on the Run Provision button on the top right corner of the page.

It is good practice to perform this Run Provision once after configuring the auto provisioning fields to verify that the parameters have been setup correctly.

USEFUL TIP

Firmware updates to the analog cards are fairly infrequent. If there is a concern that too many cards may be updating at the same time that will impact network performance, it is advisable to configure the auto provisioning of different cards to occur on different days and times.

Another option is to disable auto provision and use Run Provision on each card as needed.
