This functionality is not supported on the Galaxy Mini hardware platform.
Prerequisites
- UCX Notifier is an application that is installed on a standalone UCx450, UCx 1000 or in a Virtual Environment.

- Open UCX Administration
- From the System tab, select Licenses
- From the left side column, select Enter License
- Copy the entire license string provided by E-MetroTel in the License String field and press the Save button to activate the license.

- From the left side column, select Packages
- Click on Show Filter under name field enter ucx_notifier
- Under Status pull-down, select All
- Locate the ucx_notifier package and click on the Install link in the Status column
Configuration
Modification of the configuration file is performed by E-MetroTel personnel. Open a ticket with E-MetroTel support and provide the information as listed below.
A configuration file template is available for download at the bottom of this page. Update the file with the desired values and attach the file to the support ticket.
1 – Initiate Groups
You can have up to 9 groups listed on the Initiate page of the application. Provide the list of group names and descriptions.
ucx_notifier.initiate_groups | Name | Description |
---|---|---|
g1 | ||
g2 | ||
g3 | ||
g4 | ||
g5 | ||
g6 | ||
g7 | ||
g8 | ||
g9 |
The groups that you have provisioned in the configuration file must also be created with exactly the same name in the Notifier Admin page. Proceed to the UCX Notifier - Administration page for details on creating groups.
2 – Branding
You can customize the brand name you want to appear for the application. Provide the desired name for each option below.
ucx_notifier.settings | Defatul Value | New Value |
---|---|---|
cancel_in_menu | “Cancel Notification!” | |
brand | “Notifier” | |
brand_action | “Notification” | |
logo_text | “UCx Notifier” | |
Initiate_confirm_message | “You have activated a Notifier. Click OK to confirm!” | |
brand_full | “E-MetroTel UCx Notifier” |
3 – Dialling Out
You need to configure a trunk on the UCX system and specify the parameters for outbound calls (See Trunks for details on how to add a trunk.)
- From UCX Administration, go to the Trunks page and select the desired trunk. Under the Outgoing Settings section, note the Trunk Name. The value provided for trunk should be of the format: <trunk type>/<trunk name>.
Using the example shown above, the value provided should be: “SIP/SIP_T2”. - Determine the CLID number (calling_number) and CLID name (calling_name) you want to provide to the called number.
- Specify if any digit manipulation (dial_translation) is required when dialling out. For example, the default value prepends a 1 to 10 digit numbers.
- You need to know the number of channels available on your trunk. Provide the maximum number of simultaneous calls (call_limit) the application can make. This number should be less than or equal to the number of channels available.
ucx_notifier.settings | Default value | New value |
---|---|---|
trunk | “configure_me” | |
calling_number | “6135555555” | |
calling_name | “E-MetroTel” | |
dial_translation | “1, NXXNXXXXXX” | |
call_limit | 10 |
4 – Auto Logins
Pages can be setup to auto login to allow quick access to the notifier feature. The account used for the login is pre-configured and the user only needs to enter the password. A different account can be defined per page. To disable auto login, remove the page from this list. The default value defines the following 2 pages:
- /notifier (uses account [email protected]
- /notifier/monitor (uses account [email protected])
ucx_notifier.settings.login_defaults | Default account | New account |
---|---|---|
/notifier | [email protected] | |
/notifier/monitor | [email protected] |
5 – Alt Mode
The Alt Mode is intended to help with initial setup and testing and should be disabled when the application is in production. There may be more groups defined in the Notifier Admin page than what is provisioned in the configuration file. When Alt Mode is enabled, the Alt link will be available in the menu bar. Clicking on the Alt link brings up the Notifier page that allows notification to all defined groups.
ucx_notifier.settings | Default Value | New Value |
---|---|---|
alt_mode | true |
