Galaxy Mini V2 – Configuration

This page describes the initial configuration steps that needs to be completed when the Galaxy Mini Version 2 is first installed.

Step 1 – Access the System

From a web browser, enter the IP address of the Galaxy Mini Version 2.

Login using the default UCX administrator credentials:

  • username = admin
  • password = emetr0tel

The warning at the top will remain on every page until you change the default password.

Navigate to System -> Users page and change the admin password.

Step 2 – Activate the System

Navigate to System -> Licenses -> System Activation page.

Enter all the required fields:

  • Reseller Name: Must be a valid Reseller Name that is registered with the E-MetroTel Serial Number Management system.(Note: this field is only emtpty if the unit is still in “In Stock” status on the E-MetroTel Serial Number Management system.  The Reseller Name will be pre-populated on the form if the unit has been moved to “Sold To” status on the E-MetroTel Serial Number Management system.)
  • Reseller Email: Must be a valid reseller email address registered to the account associated with the Reseller Name (shown on the previous line item) within the E-MetroTel Serial Number Management system.
  • Customer Name: The name of the customer that the system is being configured for (No verification)
  • Customer Email: The email address of the customer that the system is being configured for (No verification)
  • Customer Phone: The phone number of the customer that the system is being configured for (No verification)
  • Site Name: The name of the customer site where this system is located (No verification)

All of these items are required to be entered before the system can be activated, but the only item that is verified for accuracy is the Reseller Email.  The Customer information allows both the reseller and E-MetroTel to more readily identify particular systems.

After the required information has been input, click Activate.  The Galaxy system will send the entered data to the E-MetroTel Serial Number Management system to verify the Reseller Email and Serial Number.

Upon successful activation, navigate to the License Details page to verify the license installed.

Step 3 – Configure DHCP Server

3.1 – Configure Network Parameters

Navigate to System -> Network -> Network Parameters page.

Configure the Network Parameters so that they are compatible with the customer’s network.

3.2 – Start DHCP Server

Navigate to System -> Network -> DHCP Server page.

Click the Edit link for Ethernet 1.

Configure and enable DHCP Server for Ethernet 1.

Click the Save button.

Click Start DHCP Server.

The DHCP Server is now Active.

Once DHCP Server is enabled, the integrated FXS8 card will receive its assigned IP address.

3.3 – Bind IP Address

Navigate to System -> Network -> DHCP Client List page.

Take note of the IP Address and MAC Address of the FXS8 Gateway Card (default hostname IAD).

Navigate to System -> Network -> DHCP Bindings page.

Click the Assign IP Address button.

Enter the Host Name, IP Address and MAC Address of the FXS8 Card noted in the previous step. Click the Save button.

The DHCP Server will now always assign the same IP address to the integrated FXS8 Gateway Card.

Step 4 – Setup Remote Host to FXS8 Card

Navigate to Support -> Remote Access page.

Register and start Remote Access.

Select Reconnect Active Ports from the drop-down list and click Set Startup Action. This will configure all active ports to automatically reconnect when the system is restarted.

Click on New Remote Host to create a remote host to the FXS8 Card. GalaxyMiniV2-RemoteHost.png

Now you can connect to the FXS8 card via remote host to manage and configure the FXS8 card.

Step 5 – Add Extensions

5.1 – Infinity 5xxx series XSTIM phones

Infinity 5xxx Series XSTIM phones connect to the Galaxy Mini and do not require licenses.  They connect via either the customer LAN (using the WAN jack, or Ethernet 0 in the UCX Administration) or via a dedicated IP Telephony LAN (using the LAN jack or Ethernet 1).

  1. To configure the extensions for the Infinity 5000 Series XSTIM phones, follow the procedures outlined in Adding a XSTIM Extension
  2. To register the 5xxx Series XSTIM phones to the Galaxy Mini, follow the procedures outlined in Infinity 5000 Series (XSTIM) – Registration.

5.2 – Digital phones supported by the DSM16 Card

Digital phones that connect to the Galaxy Mini V2 do not require additional licenses unless you are expanding from 32 extension to 64 or 96.  They connect via the 16 port Digital Station Module (DSM16).

  1. To connect a DSM16 to the Galaxy Mini V2, follow the procedures outlined in the UCX Digital Station Module (DSM16) documentation, beginning with the DSM16 – Overview and then the DSM16 – Gateway – Call Server and DSM16 – Gateway – Device Conguration pages. Also refer to the DSM16 – Wiring Chart.
  2. To configure the extensions for the digital phones, follow the procedures outlined in Adding a XSTIM Extension.

5.3 – Analog phones

Analog phones that connect to the Galaxy Mini V2 do not require additional licenses. The integrated FXS8 Gateway card can support up to 8 Analog stations.

Refer to the instructions on Analog Card – Create Extension using FXS port page to configure extensions for the analog ports.

The phones connect to the Galaxy Mini V2 via the RJ-11 jacks located on the rear of the appliance.
