Connecting to the Network

E-MetroTel recommends using the ethernet connectors on the rear of the unit as follows:

• ETH0: default IP = 192.168.1.200 (static)
  • connects to customer network for internet access
• ETH1: default IP = 192.168.10.200(static)
  • connects internally to the expansion slot
  • the front panel port can optionally connect to other E-MetroTel network devices as a telephony LAN
• ETH2: default IP = 192.168.11.200 (static)
  • can optionally be used to connect to SIP service providers that require a dedicated network interface for connection to their equipment demarcation point

If the default ETH0 configuration is compatible with your local area network,

1. Connect the Eth0 port on the UCX system to your network with a Cat 5 Ethernet cable.
2. Configure your PC’s network adaptor to use the 192.168.1.xxx subnet.
3. Power up the UCX system and wait approximately 100 seconds for the UCX system to boot.

If the default ETH0 configuration is not compatible with your local area network

1. Connect the UCX directly to a PC with a statically configured IP address from the 192.168.1.xxx subnet.
2. Power up the UCX system and follow the instructions in Network Parameters page to change the network configuration.
