Inbound Call Control – Set CallerID

Overview

Set CallerID allows you to change the caller id of the call and then continue on to the desired destination. One example is using the CallerID feature in conjunction with the Call History feature.  The Call History feature uses the incoming calling line ID (CLID) to determine the number to be called when you press the Call button from the call history. However, when a system is configured to use an access code (e.g., dial 9 for an external call) a 9 must be added to the incoming CLID.

The implementation consists of 2 parts:

  • Configuring the Set CallerID feature
  • Defining an Inbound Route that uses the Set CallerID feature as its destination

Configuring Set CallerID

To configure the Set CallerID feature, perform the following steps:

  1. From the PBX tab, select PBX Configuration
  2. From the left side column, select Set CallerID
  3. Enter a description in the Description field
  4. Enter ${CALLERID(name)} in the CallerID Name field
  5. Enter the desired prefix followed by ${CALLERID(num)} in the CallerID Number field (for example, to add 9 to the received CallerID number, you would enter 9${CALLERID(num)})
  6. In the Destination section, select the desired destination
  7. Press the Submit Changes button to save the rule

Configuring Inbound Route

To configure an inbound route that uses the Set CallerID previously configured, perform the following steps:

  1. From the PBX tab, select PBX Configuration
  2. From the left side column, select Inbound Routes
  3. Create a new Inbound route or modify and existing route
  4. In the Set Destination section, for Set CallerID fieldchoose the name of the CallerID rule configured in the previous step
  5. Press the Submit button
