IVS - Deploying in a VMware Player for testing

The E-MetroTel Infinity Video Server requires at least 2 CPU threads and 4 Gigabytes of RAM to provide conferencing services with external recording, or 4 CPU threads and 12 Gigabytes of RAM to provide video conferencing services and one server-based video session recording.

Pre-Requisites

VMware VMplayer installed on your PC

Procedure

Step 1

Open a support ticket with the request to download the trial software. In the ticket, include the Public IP address associated with the PC that you will use to download the software.

Step 2

When you receive authorization in the response to the ticket from E-MetroTel support, you will be given a download link to retrieve the software.

Step 3

Click on the link and the download will begin. After 10 seconds, the web page will be redirected to the Infinity Video Server documentation pages.

Note: Some browsers may be configured to block the download of compressed files as insecure content. You can try a different browser or you can adjust your browser settings to allow content to always be downloaded from our download site.

The following steps are executed using Chrome:

  1. Open the chrome://settings/content/insecureContent page.

  2. Click on the Add button for Allowed to show insecure content and enter repo.uc-x.org

  3. Click Add and ensure the site is listed in the Allowed to show insecure content panel

  4. Once you have completed the download you can remove this entry if you wish.

Step 4

Open the download folder and un-compress the .zip file to a desired location on your PC.

Step 5

Open VMWare Player, and click Open a Virtual Machine

Navigate to the location of the uncompressed files, select the IVS1.0.ovf file and click Open

Step 7

Add a name for the IVS (for example MyInfinityVideoServer) and then click Import

VM Player will then begin the import process

Step 9

You are now ready to either adjust some of the virtual machine settings for the Infinity Video Server or you can start the Infinity Video Server.

Step 10

Click on Play virtual machine. You may be shown a splash screen such as the following. Click OK.

After clicking OK the VM will begin its startup process which will be visible through the CLI.
When it is done, press the Return key on your keyboard and the CLI will show the IP address assigned to the Infinity Video Server system via your DHCP server (default setting unless changed through the VM settings panel).
You can change this later in the Infinity Video Server configuration settings.

You are now ready to begin Configuring the Infinity Video Server system.
