Simplified UCX Configuration for Remote InfinityOne Softphones

In the past, it was necessary to enable the STUN Server in the Advanced Settings of the UCx server in order to achieve two way voice communication for remote InfinityOne softphones. A software enhancement released in April 2020 eliminated the need for the use of the STUN Server on the UCx server. Configuration of a STUN Server is still required on the InfinityOne server settings (configured under the InfinityOne administration settings in the WebRTC page). Deleting the STUN Server value on the UCX Advanced Settings page yields slightly faster call setup times for InfinityOne soft clients. Due to that, our recommendation is to clear the UCX STUN Server entry.

Note: this notice applies only to systems with the InfinityOne software.

Steps required to remove the STUN Server setting in the UCX are as follows:

  1. Login to the Web-based Configuration Utility and select Advanced Settings from the PBX / PBX Configuration menu
  2. Scroll down to the Media Settings section, select the existing text in the STUN Server Hostname field (eg. stun.emetrotel.org) and delete the text, or you can click on the green arrow to revert to the default (no value) setting
