Network Parameters
The Network Parameters page allows you to view/change the network configuration of your UCX Digital Gateway system.
If your BCM based UCX Digital Gateway includes an integrated router, you should configure the integrated router before the configuration of the UCX Digital Gateway.
To use the UCX Digital Gateway on your LAN, you may need to change its network configuration to match your network. You should update some or all of the following properties:
- IP address and subnet mask
- Host name
- Default gateway
- DNS server(s)
To change the IP address, subnet mask and DNS servers of your UCX Digital Gateway, perform the following steps:
- Open the UCX Digital Gateway Administration
- From the System tab, select Network
- From the Device list, select the interface of the UCX gateway to edit by clicking the device name (e.g. Ethernet 1)
- If you want the UCX Digital Gateway to obtain its IP address dynamically from your DHCP server:
- Select the DHCP option
- If you want the UCX Digital Gateway to use a static IP address:
- Select the Static option
- Enter the IP Address (default is 192.168.1.175)
- Enter the Network Mask (default is 255.255.255.0)
- Enter the Primary DNS (default is 192.168.1.1) – If your router can relay DNS requests, specify the IP address of your router in the Primary DNS field. Otherwise, enter the IP address of your preferred DNS server.
- Optionally enter the Secondary DNS
- Check the Status is Enabled
- Press the Apply Changes button
- Confirm that you want to change the network parameters. If you changed the IP address of the interface while using the same interface to access the Web-based Configuration Utility, you must reopen it using the new IP address.
To change the host name and the default gateway, perform the following steps:
- From the System tab, select Network
- Press the Edit Network Parameters button
- Enter a fully qualified domain name for the UCX Digital Gateway (e.g., ucxgw.emetrotel.org)
- Enter the default gateway of your local subnet (typically this is the IP address of your router)
- Press the Save button
A reboot of the Digitat Gateway is required if there is any change to the Network Parameters.
NTP Settings
The Network Time Protocol Settings page allows you to configure NTP settings used by the UCX Digital Gateway system.
To access the page, perform the following steps:
- From the System tab, select Network
- From the left-side column, select NTP Settings
Add NTP servers to the list box, one IP address or one host name per line.
Select the Defaults button to populate the list with default NTP servers.
Select the Save button to update the NTP configuration file.
Internet connection is required if accessing public NTP servers.
If the UCX Digital Gateway is located in the same time zone as the UCX Server, then time can be obtained from the UCX Server. Enter the IP address of the UCX Server in the NTP Servers list box or click the Defaults button.
If the UCX Digital Gateway is located in a different time zone from the UCX Server, then configure public NTP Servers in the list box. If the gateway is not connected to the internet, then make sure the date and time is set correctly in the Date and Time page.
