InfinityOne – Using the Softphone

1. Using Softphone on Browser Interface

Making Calls

Using the softphone interface to initiate the call

Basic calling or dialing on the softphone is exactly the same as on any desktop phone. Enter the digits and press the Call softkey.

You can click on the dial pad keys to dial, or you can use the computer keyboard to dial numbers.

Pressing the <RETURN> key on the computer keyboard simulates the # key on the dial pad.

USEFUL TIP

After you start dialing from either the dial pad or your keypad the phone will present softkeys that allow you to edit what you have typed. Press the Backspc (backspace) to remove the last digit, or press Erase to clear the entire entry. The UCX software is also typically configured to allow for a time period (4 seconds by default) after you finish dialing before the call will be automatically initiated. You can also press Call or hit the # or Enter key to initiate the call. This also applies to mobile application as well.

Using a channel to initiate the call

When you are active in a channel of (any type) you can initiate a call to be placed on your softphone in multiple ways.

  1. Use a slash command by typing      /call phonenumber or @username (The number can include spaces, dots, or dashes.)
For example, you could enter /call 1647-478-7435 to initiate a call to call as shown below:

  1. Type the phone number you wish to dial into a channel and press enter. You can now click on the number in the sent messages section and initiate a click to call as above.
USEFUL TIP

Want to call a phone number that is visible in another application? Simply copy the phone number that you wish to call (say from an Outlook email) and paste it into a channel and use one of methods above. This also applies to mobile application as well.

Receiving Calls

There are many different ways to answer an incoming call:

  1. Click on the Speaker  button
  2. Click on the Headset  button. You need to first configure a headset to be used with the client before the Headset button can be used.
  3. Click on ANSWER in the alert box displayed at the top of InfinityOne application.
  4. Click on the desktop notification alert box at the bottom right of your computer screen. This is especially useful when the InfinityOne application window is hidden and you are actively working on a different window when a call arrives.

USEFUL TIP

You can make your softphone become active immediately after starting your computer. When logging into the InfinityOne Desktop application, select the Remember Me? box when Logging In to the application. Then, for Mac and Linux users, select the Desktop App Settings, scroll down the page and activate the Start App at Login switch. On Windows, select the Remember Me? box when Logging In to the application, but do not change the Desktop App Settings. Instead, drop the InfinityOne app icon into the Windows Startup folder.

Receiving Calls While in Locked State

Note that the mobile client softphone provides the ability to receive notifications of calls (and messages) while the phone is in the locked state.  This allows the mobile client software to manage interactions between InfinityOne calls and native mobile calls and other applications.

You can now talk using the native device speaker capabilities. iPhoneLockedCall.png
You can also get alerted about incoming native Mobile device calls. iPhoneNativeCallWaiting.png
If you have chosen Hold & Accept you can switch back and forth between the two calls by touching the Caller ID information near the top of the screen. iPhoneTwoCalls.png

3. Use Case Scenarios

Receptionist/Attendant (Desktop Client Interface recommended)

The InfinityOne Softphone can support up to 4 Key Expansion Modules for a total of 120 keys. You can configure the softphone to act as an Attendant Console, where Busy Lamp Field (BLF) keys can be configured for each extension in the office. (See Answer DN Behavior on how to configure a BLF key.) Incoming calls to the receptionist or attendant, can be easily transferred to an extension with a BLF appearance. The BLF key for the extension will also show if the extension is idle  ringing   or busy .
