Overview
If your administrator has configured a softphone extension for you or you want to use the InfinityOne softphone hotdesked to your current extension on a desktop device, here are the steps to enable and register the InfinityOne Softphone.
Step 1 – Enable Softphone
Browser Interface
The Browser softphone allows you to stay connected from anywhere as long as you have a web browser open.
- Click on the account box (top left where your username and avatar are shown)
- Select My Account
- Select Phone
- Toggle on the Enable Softphone switch
- The page will automatically refresh and return to the home page
Mobile Interface
The mobile softphone interface is always ready to make and receive calls, and even interacts with the native mobile device interface for managing voice calls in the locked state.
Step 2 – Access Softphone
Browser Interface
From the left navigation panel, select any channel to display the right icon menu.
From the right icon menu, select the Phone icon to display the softphone.
Mobile Interface
From the main Messages screen, click on the icon on the Call Strip at the bottom of the screen to open the softphone interface.
The Call Strip is always available even if the activity on the screen overflow past the screen.
After pressing the icon, the Phone screen opens.
Step 3 – Register Softphone
Register as Primary Phone
For users who have been assigned a dedicated extension where the InfinityOne softphone is their primary phone.
When registering the softphone with a dedicated extension, you use the Config softkey to identify the extension you plan to use (as assigned by your administrator).
- If the phone is not registered, proceed to register by clicking on the Config key.
- Enter the password provided by your administrator (this is the Set based configuration password).
- Enter your softphone extension number.
- Your phone is now registered and you can proceed to make calls using the softphone.
Hotdesk as Secondary Phone
For users who have been assigned a desktop phone and using the InfinityOne softphone as a secondary phone.
When registering the softphone to use with an existing extension, you use the HotDesk softkey to identify the extension you plan to use (as instructed by your administrator).
- If the phone is not registered, proceed to register by clicking on the HotDesk key.
- Enter the extension of the device that you want to Hotdesk to and press the Enter softkey. It must be an E-MetroTel Infinity series XStim or Nortel/Avaya IP (Unistim) or digital set.
- Enter the HotDesking password provided by your system administrator and press the Enter softkey.
- Your phone is now registered and you can proceed to make calls using the softphone.
Note that the features assigned to keys on the existing extension will be available on the softphone as well.
